Impact of climate change on agricultural productivity and food security in Zimbabwe

This study analyses the impact of climate change on Zimbabwean agricultural productivity and food security in communal farming areas. It will also examine climate change’s implications on food security as well as evaluating adaptation and mitigation’s benefits. Local adaptation strategies will also be scrutinised and the role of national adaptation strategies, institutional support, and resilience at different scales will be scrutinised.

Assessment of the effects of climate change and variability on food security in rural Zimbabwe

This study aims to assess the impacts of climate change and variability on food security in rural Zimbabwe. The study covers  the period from 1980 to 2017. The objectives of the study will be to determine the trends from the temperature and rainfall data for the selected years, evaluate spatial variability with respect to climate change and variability using GIS and remote sensing, explore the phenology of agricultural vegetation for the area and assess the households’ perception of the relationship between climate change and food security.

The effect of climate change adaptation strategies on food crop production efficiency in Zimbabwe

This study examines the effects of climate change adaptation strategies on food crop production efficiency in Zimbabwe. The study seeks to identify the climate change adaptation strategies used by farmers of food crops in Zimbabwe, establish the factors which influence food crop farmers’ choice of adaptation strategies, determine how climate change has influenced food production efficiency, identify constraints which affect farmers’ adaptation to climate change and determine ways of improving production efficiency.

Climate Change and Agriculture: Impact of climate change and variability on crops yield in Zimbabwe

This study seeks to develop an econometric model of stochastic production functions to quantify the impacts of climatic variables on the mean, variance, and covariance of crop yields in Zimbabwe. The estimates of the production function parameters and their elasticities are utilized to analyse the impacts of the projected climate change on agriculture in the study area.
