Tips for choosing Radiology dissertation topics
- Retrospective studies are better than prospective ones.
- Choose a simple topic for your radiology thesis.
- If you are genuinely interested in research AND you have a good mentor who will guide you, then you can choose a novel topic. Once you have done that make sure that you publish your study once you are done with it.
- In most of the cases, it makes sense to stick to a dissertation topic that will not take a lot of your time. That head turning research you think you are capable of can always wait until after you graduate!
- That does not mean that you should ignore your dissertation and simply copy it from a friend from another university. Dissertation writing is your first step towards research methodology so do it as sincerely as possible. You will need that experience as you grow in the profession.
- At the same time do not invest a lot of time in writing/collecting data for your dissertation. Balance with your other study requirements.
- Do not procrastinate preparing the dissertation. As soon as you have been allotted a guide, start researching topics and writing the review of the literature.
- You should not be busy finishing up your dissertation a couple of wees before the exam.
- There are people who have not been able to appear for their final exams because they could not submit their dissertation in time. So DO NOT TAKE your dissertation lightly.
- Reiterating once again, do not simply choose someone else’s dissertation topic. Find out what are the kind of cases that your own environment caters to. It is better to do a good thesis on a common topic than a crappy one on a rare one!
